Cuatrociénegas researchers,
The web page (http://www.desertfishes.org/cuatroc/junta/2004/) for the meeting of Cuatrocienegas researchers has been recently updated. As you'll see from the preliminary list of participants and papers there, the event promises to be larger and more successful than we had imagined. Thanks to your enthusiastic responses, it now looks like we'll be able to count on additional support from new donors. If that comes through, we will have additional funds for travel support and will contract simultaneous translation services, as well as publish the proceedings.
We now have to confirm everything to make final plans. We ask all who plan to participate in the event, whether by presenting a paper or poster, or simply by being present, to please submit the participant confirmation and abstract submittal form on the website as soon as possible, and no later than August 1. If you don't respond by the deadline, since all data from the form are automatically displayed on the website immediately upon submission, everyone will know who is responsible should there not be adequate food and drink for all at one of the free social events.
If you require travel or housing support for the meeting you must now submit an official request for support using the form on the web. This form and your corresponding submission of the participant confirmation and abstract submittal form must be completed before July 5. Those submitting their requests by that deadline will be advised of the amount of the support granted to them before July 12, thus allowing purchase of tickets at least one month prior to the meeting.

La página web (http://www.desertfishes.org/cuatroc/junta/2004/) para la Junta de Investigadores de Cuatrocienegas ha sido actualizada. De forma extraordinaria podrán ver que la lista preliminar de asistentes es mas grande de lo que esperábamos. Gracias a su entusiasta respuesta, parece que contaremos con más apoyo de nuevas instituciones. Si resulta este apoyo adicional, se podrá ayudar a más gente que requiera transportación, además se contratará con servicio de traducción simultánea y publicaremos los trabajos del evento.
Ahora nos urge precisar todos los aspectos de la organización final. Por lo que les estamos solicitando a todos los participantes, ya sean ponentes o solo asistentes, que llenen y envíen la forma de confirmation de participantes y resumenes de la página web lo más pronto posible y a más tardar el 1 de agosto. Puesto que toda información vaciada en el web aparece automáticamente, si no hay una oportuna respuesta dentro de la fecha limite, no podrán inscribirse después de esta fecha y todos veremos quienes serán los responsables al momento de faltar alimentos y bebidas durante los eventos sociales gratuitos.
Si requieren apoyo para transportación y hospedaje habrá que llenar la forma en web para solicitar su apoyo, junto con la forma de confirmación de participación y resúmenes, antes del 5 de julio. Se avisará el monto económico aprobado para antes del 12 de julio a todos aquellos que envíen la forma antes de la fecha límite, con este procedimiento se hará posible comprar los boletos por lo menos con un mes de anticipación al evento.
